
Dening Text Placeholders
You can add placeholders for text, and dene default attributes for text in them.
To dene a text placeholder:
1 In the Master Slide navigator, select a slide (to open the Master Slide navigator, click
View in the toolbar and choose Show Master Slides).
2 Open the Master Slide inspector, and then click Appearance.
3 To add a placeholder title text box, select Title.
4 To add a placeholder body text box, select Body.
To control whether text in the text box is bulleted, numbered, or plain by default, use
the Bullets pane of the Text inspector.
5 To add a placeholder free text box, click Text Box in the toolbar. In the Master Slide
inspector, select “Dene as Text Placeholder” (or choose Format > Advanced > “Dene
as Text Placeholder”).
You can also add a shape and dene it as a text placeholder.
6 Resize and rearrange the text boxes as desired.
7 Select the placeholder text and format it as desired.
In a text box, you can dene attributes for as many as ve levels of text.
Dening Media Placeholders
You can create one or more placeholders on a master slide to hold images, audio les,
and movies. When you drag a an image or movie le to a media placeholder on a slide,
the le automatically takes on the placeholder’s position and size.
To dene a media placeholder:
1 Select an image or shape on a master slide.
You can place your own image on the master slide and select it, or select an image
that already appears on the master slide.
2 Open the Master Slide inspector, and then click Appearance.
3 Select “Dene as Media Placeholder.”
4 Type a description in the Tag eld, if you want.
5 Resize, mask, and arrange the placeholder to look the way you want.
